The Silly Goose Behind Terrible Tea

I’m Tristan and I am not typical entrepreneur—I’m more of a wanderer and someone who refuses to follow the beaten path. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, I’ve always had a wild streak, one that didn’t quite fit into the world of corporate ladders. After studying entrepreneurship in college, then I hit the real world hard with no plan and no job. So, naturally, I took the first gig that came his way—a sales position at a company I didn’t care about. But something didn’t sit right. This can’t be it.

So, I packed up my life and moved to Colorado, where I worked at a job and thought I had found the freedom I craved. But as the days turned into months, I realized that something was still missing— I wanted different experiences. I wasn’t just looking for a career; I was looking for a lifestyle. So, I took it a step further and moved to Driggs, Idaho, drawn by the allure of an alternative mountain lifestyle. Why? Because why not? It was a chance to step completely off the grid and immerse myself in a place that was as free-spirited and unconventional as I felt.

A few years later, I found my way back to Detroit, with one goal in mind: to build something real, something that wasn’t bound by the same old rules everyone else was playing by.

Enter Terrible Tea —a brand born from a mix of misfit energy, an obsession with authenticity, and a burning desire to create something that flipped the status quo the bird. For me, it’s never been about building the “perfect” business—it’s about creating a brand that doesn’t take itself too seriously, that makes people laugh, question the ordinary, and above all, feels real. I am the type of guy who just wants to build something that actually means something, even if it’s a little chaotic along the way.

Terrible Tea isn’t about playing it safe—it’s about creating a community that celebrates the weird, the bold, and the people who refuse to be boxed in. Because, let’s be honest, why settle for ordinary when you can brew up something totally off-the-wall?
